The renowned Japanese industry media, Japan Nonwoven Reports, interviewed the president of the Taiwan Nonwoven Fabrics Industry Association (TNFIA), Jian Jiajing, for the Nov. Issue. During the interview,  the president shared Taiwan's experiences achieving carbon neutrality in the nonwoven fabrics industry and actively promoted the ANEX2024 conference and exhibition to Japan's leading industrial professionals.

The following are key points from the interview:

• Global nonwoven fabric consumption reached nearly 50 million tonnes in 2020 and will reach 90 million by 2030. This underscores the nonwoven industry's capacity to modify or control materials ranging from 50 to 90 million tonnes.
• In 2022, Taiwan's nonwoven production totaled 151,000 tonnes (39% meltblown/spunbond, 32% spunlace, 12% needle-punched, 9% thermal-bonded, 4% chemical-bonded, 3% dry-laid/other, 1% wet-laid), marking a 17% decline from 2021. Of the nonwoven products manufactured in Taiwan, over 60% are designated for export.
• Taiwanese nonwoven companies are proactively adjusting production lines and raw material choices to diminish their carbon footprint, enhancing the recyclability of their products.
• Collaborating with TNFIA, Taiwan's nonwoven companies have initiated the production of masks designed to be recyclable, reusable, and minimized. This initiative advocates for recyclable materials and standardized masks used or produced in Taiwan. Dedicated collection bins, marked with the TNFIA-approved logo, will be strategically placed across Taiwan for recycling masks.
• Taiwan is set to host the Asia Nonwovens Exhibition and Conference (ANEX 2024) in Taipei from May 22 to 24, 2024. With 350 exhibitors and 25,000 global visitors expected to participate, the event will showcase cutting-edge sustainable technologies and industry trends
